Grommels
Presenting award winning children's theatre, Grommels!
A big grey wall surrounds a small grey world. Colour is just a memory… a dream. This is the world of Bluegrommel and Yellowgrommel – the last two colours left. Yellowgrommel catches sunlight. Bluegrommel catches rain. Until a day arrives that is unlike any other Grommel day… What happens when the wall between us starts to turn? What happens when opposites truly find each other, in a moment of magic? Join us on a playful journey of discovery where beauty and joy is found in quiet simplicity, and where nature’s hopeful colours can grow again… If you just open your eyes.
Without saying a word, the Grommels seek to rekindle connection between one another and the natural world, leaving audiences with a lasting sense of curiosity, playfulness and wonder.
Grommels grew out of a process-driven collaboration between Angelique Filter and Robert Hindley, with its debut at KKNK in 2025, where it received a Kanna Award for Best Children’s Theatre. It was further honoured with an Ovation Award at the National Arts Festival. The Grommels have also toured to Woordfees, Aardklop and the Vrystaat Kunstefees, and are hoping to see more of the world in 2026.7 Feb @ 11.00am & 2.00pm

ADHD - Aaron McIlroy
ADHD takes audiences on a hilarious, high-speed ride through the brilliantly wired mind of Aaron McIlroy. This multi-award-winning one-man show offers a wildly funny yet deeply touching look at the “gift” that is ADHD, following schoolboy Angus and the colourful characters who shape his chaotic world. From overwhelmed teachers to blundering coaches and time-traveling ADHD legends like Isaac Newton and Alexander Graham Bell, the show celebrates creativity, imagination, and living life at full volume. Co-written and directed by Patrick Kenny, ADHD is a laugh-out-loud crowd-pleaser for all ages.
At the centre of the show is schoolboy Angus — a character loosely based on McIlroy — as he struggles, stumbles, and ultimately celebrates his unwanted “gift.” Along the way, audiences meet the unforgettable cast of characters shaping his world: Ms Janine Kook — the overwhelmed, overburdened teacher who deserves sainthood; Coach Quinn — sports coach, counsellor, and the emotional equivalent of a wounded buffalo; James, Angus’s earnest and increasingly desperate dad, doing his best to navigate school life with him. The show’s alternate-universe twist brings audiences face-to-face with famous ADHD “inventors” — from Alexander Graham Bell and Sir Isaac Newton to a young, hyperactive Shaka chasing Brits and Boers through the bush — proving once and for all that creativity and chaos often go hand in hand. A deliriously funny celebration of difference, imagination, and full-throttle living, ADHD is a rollercoaster experience that leaves audiences breathless with laughter and unexpectedly moved. Circle Song
A story about re-membering: Two Irishmen leave the shore of Northern Ireland to search for a new sense of belonging; a letter written back in 1864 is found in an old trunk; a woman wakes up from a coma, inside a moment of time when she was a 15 year old girl… Circle Song is a memory piece. Not quite play or monologue, not quite story-telling, it is spoken to the audience from a narrator’s perspective across an arc of time. Sometimes it is from the voices of people, re-imagined in the past, who left the shores of Ireland and England to begin a life in South Africa. But it rests on the story prompted by a real life event: After a severe brain operation, my mother wakes to the world as a fifteen year old version of herself. CIRCLE SONG garnered a Silver Ovation award at the National Arts Festival 2025 ‘Circle Song’ is an exploration of time, memory, family history, and the interweaving of personal and historical narratives. It uses fragmented memories, overheard conversations, and historical anecdotes to construct a multi-layered story. The structure moves between personal recollections and broader family history, spanning generations and geographical locations, from Ireland to Africa, and explores the impact of these migrations on subsequent generations, connecting their identities and experiences to the past. QUOTE FROM THE PLAY: “…this is not ‘simple geography'. It’s a journey from the known into imagined geographies - a mythical journey. Away from where the bones of their people are buried.”

Mel Die Storieverteller -Internet Sensasie
